Pul-e-Charkhi Prison Releases 116 Prisoners

On December 20, 2017, 116 prisoners were released from Pul-e-Charkhi prison while 180 others received remission. These prisoners were entitled to amnesty and remission based on implementation of the second phase of the presidential decree number 168 on the eve of Milad Al Nabi (Birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad PBUH) with the presence of AGO Decision Enforcement Director Mohammad Asad Sapai, General Director of Puli-e Charkhi prison, Brigadier General Mohammad Tawab Ahmadzai and other members of Enforcement of Amnesty and Remission Committee.

The released prisoners included three women and 15 children. 

During the release ceremony, Mr. Sapai said: “In the past, implementation of decrees and release of prisoners used to take time, but now, this process takes less time due to the efforts of the Decrees Implementation Committee.” He also emphasized that the prisoners scheduled to be released today will not be delayed to some other days.

While pointing to the prisoners, General Director of Pul-e-Charkhi Prison, said: “Stay away from criminal actions in the future.”

Likewise, the released prisoners pledged to avoid committing crimes and resume their normal lives.  

In the first phase of implementing this decree, 98 prisoners were released from Pul-e-Charkhi Prison while two other prisoners had received discounts in their imprisonments.
